Other Research includes things such as my target audience, Other resources I have looked at which I helps me come up with idea for my game.

I researched the PEGI system as it is important that my audience knows whats age my game is suitable for and for me to know what kind of things I can or cannot have inside my game for it to have a PEGI 16 rating.

I looked at PEGI.info as its is a website that is made it educate the customers and people making products which may use the PEGI system.

The website is very useful beacuse it is simple to look and learn what each PEGI lable means with a small descrption.

PEGI has two lables: One set of lables for ages 3, 7, 12, 16, 18+ which would be the first thing the customer would see on the box of the game or on the website/ trailer video if the game is sold digitally.

The other set of lables are for content descriptors, these are also found on the back of the box for a game or displayed on the page of an online store page.

These labels are designed to imminently tell the customer what kinds of elements a game will have such as horror, drugs, violence. Combine these labels with the age labels and you can see how a game might be more violent as a PEGI 18+ than a PEGI 16.

I looked at screen resolutions as I need wanted to allow the player change the resolution of my game to suit their screen,  which ever their screen they have.

By default my the screen resolution is set to 1920x1080 (16:9) as its the resolution of my monitor screen but I have some screens which are 4k TVs and then a single TV that has a resolution under (16:9).

To try and find out what other screen common resolutions TV's have, I googled "common TV resolutions" and this is what came up.

Screen Resolutiomns.png

I also clicked the link just below and it showed me a small history of what screen resolutions are, why we have so many and the evolution of increasing graphics for TV monitors.

This helped me thing about which screen resolutions I should add which would benefit the player and the way they will see my game.

The picture above didn't help me when looking for smaller resolutions for older TVs (2008 and before). I turned to google again and searched "SD resolutions" and I started to get confused as it was just technical details about screen resolutions more than the actual screen dimensions which I was looking for.

At this point I thought about playing some older games to see their screen resolutions sizes as they where games from the 2000's when they didn't have HD or UHD screen's like today.

In the beginning of the project i had to pitch my game to a small audience which were some other students form my class. I had to think about what my game was going to be about, the story, the mechanics the game will have, theme and genre and characters for my pitch. Below are some of the pages i used for my game.

Here are some one sheets that have other forms of media that i want to use as

inspiration for my own game, they branch from games, books, music, and TV/ film sources.

OneSheet.PNG

This is my gantt chart i made at the beginning of this project. I created it to plan ahead the amount of time i spend on research, planning my game, creating my game and evaluating my game.

OneSheet_Photos.PNG

I took pictures from around town an home of objects and buildings that i feel can help me

designs objects better in my own game. I took pictures of buildings to help get a better idea of how to design walls, windows, doors and front stores as my town area will have a lot of different looking buildings.

OneSheet_Film.PNG

This shots are from the film clerks which i looked at because it was created in the mid 90's and i liked the way the characters interacted with each other, the way the scenes look such as the exterior of the buildings look old and vandalized which i want to apply to my tile maps for the buildings in my game.

This is my gantt chart i made at the beginning of this project. I created it to plan ahead the amount of time i spend on research, planning my game, creating my game and evaluating my game.
